TipBook a dinner table at one of the historic kafanas such as Tri Sesira or Dva Jelena, and expect live tamburica bands and a cover charge at weekends. Go at lunchtime instead for the same grilled food noticeably cheaper and with room to breathe; the cobbled lane itself is free to wander and prettiest in the early evening light.

TipThe party splavovi run roughly May to September only, so outside those months you get moored cafe barges rather than clubs. Museum of Yugoslavia and Tito's Mausoleum
